Each year, the Steamship Authority is scheduled to run more than 24,000 trips between the mainland and islands of Martha's Vineyard and Nantucket.
Each year, the odds of a trip getting canceled are about the same as the odds of being admitted into Harvard University.¹

In 2022, 97% of scheduled trips ran successfully.
In 2021, 96.3% of scheduled trips ran successfully.
In 2020, 85.5% of scheduled trips ran successfully.
An unusually high percentage of trips were canceled this year due to the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
In 2019, 96.2% of scheduled trips ran successfully.
The "other" category includes trip cancelations due to crewing shortages, trip consolidation, and unforseen circumstances.
